Karpparashaambikai Temple

There was a couple named Nidruva and Vedikai. Due to the curse of Urthuva Maharishi, Vedikai lost her baby before it was born. Vedikai prayed sincerely to the Amman here. It is believed that the Amman here took care of the fetus until the child was born and hence the temple is called Karukavoor (care of fetus) and the Amman is called Karbaratshagi. Poets Sambandar and Appar have sung praises about this temple in their creations.

Tayumanavar Hill Temple

Rathna Devi was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. During her delivery time her mother could not be with her due to the heavy floods of the River Cauvery. Lord Shiva himself took the form of her mother and stayed with her until she delivered her child and hence the name Tayumanavar (one who is also Mother ).Poets Sambandar and Appar have sung praises about this temple in their creations.
